DETROIT – When Detroit Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said after Sunday’s 5-1 loss to Chicago that the team wanted to see Nate Danielson “so we can make some decisions, perhaps on some other players,” some might have interpreted that to mean a trade was coming.

Not so, McLellan said Tuesday. At least nothing appears imminent for a team that’s lost three in a row and has scored only six goals during a 1-4-0 stretch.

“I got to make sure I make that clear,” McLellan said. “My son calls me and he says, ‘Oh, you guys are trading some players?’ No, we’re not. That doesn’t mean we won’t or ever will. But that’s not the reason why Danny’s here.”
