In the aftermath of winning the second crosstown match of the season , Bozeman High head coach Devin Dynan thought back to one of the evening’s critical stretches.
There would have been no decisive fifth set if not for a win in the fourth. And when the Hawks needed the fourth set to go their way, when every point was so valuable, they turned to Nula Anderson.
The senior outside hitter delivered kills that gave her team set points at 24-22, 25-24 and 26-25. Anderson ended up not being involved in the final two points of the set — a Gallatin High service error and a teammate’s kill forced a fifth game — but she was crucial to the team’s survival until then.
“She shows up when we need her to, all the time,” Dynan said of Anderson that night, on the penultimate day of October.
