Need a new novel that'll make you think? Look no further than Oprah Winfrey's latest book club selection, "Some Bright Nowhere" by Ann Packer.

Packer, the author of five other works of fiction, tackles existential questions of life and partnership in "Some Bright Nowhere," out now from HarperCollins. The novel follows a couple, together for nearly four decades, confronting a crucial turning point in their marriage.

"This beautifully written story is going to get you thinking about some things that really matter," Winfrey said in a statement. "The story leaves you questioning the obligations of marriage and the difference between male and female friendships, and one of the most significant of questions: How do you want to spend your last days?"

Oprah's Book Club pick for November: 'Some Bright Nowhere' by Ann Packer

"Some Bright Nowhere" is about married couple Eliot and Claire, nearly four decades into their marriage living in a sleepy Connecticut town. Eliot now largely plays the role of caregiver for Claire, who is battling cancer. He's preparing for her inevitable last days, but then Claire reveals an unexpected request that shatters him.

"I don't think I've ever said 'Oh my God' so many times in so few minutes," Packer said in a statement. "I'd been expecting a call from my editor, but instead I had Oprah Winfrey on the line telling me that she was choosing my novel for her book club. No one has done more than Oprah to champion wonderful, meaningful books nor to make talking about them an urgent project for millions of readers. Oprah's Book Club reads like a list of my favorite books of the last three decades. I am honored, thrilled, and humbled to be included among them, and more grateful than I can possibly say."
