ARLINGTON, Va. — On Tuesday, there were more planned flight cancellations across the country as the government shutdown continues. The reduction in air traffic is now at 6% according to the FAA.
According to Flight Aware, on Tuesday evening, there were 42 flight cancellations at Reagan National alone, and 59 cancellations combined between Dulles and BWI.
Those numbers are expected to increase as the FAA scales back the number of flights by 10 percent by the end of the week.
"There was tons of people on Sunday; this was a zoo," said Valaeria Merino, who was at the airport over the weekend. She was one of many who didn’t reach their destination.
