Now five years after first launching, the Roosevelt gymnastics program has firmly entrenched itself as a Class 4A contender.
This past Friday at Thornton High School, the Rough Riders reached new heights as they placed second in the 4A state championships behind Niwot, which won its second consecutive state title.
Roosevelt recorded an overall team score of 180.625, trailing Niwot’s total of 184.050.
Palmer Ridge was a close third at 180.375.
The Rough Riders placed third as a team a year ago.
Roosevelt didn’t have any individual state champions this past week, but it did have numerous impressive performances.
Standout freshman Kailiana Allen finished fifth in the all-around standings with a point total of 36.650. Niwot junior Genevieve Saunders won the all-around title with a 37.8.
