If you see a Target employee smiling at you this holiday season, it may be mandated.
Bloomberg News recently reported that Target store workers have received new guidance on how to interact with shoppers, with the company's so-called 10-4 program directing employees to smile, make eye contact and greet or wave at any shopper that comes within 10 feet.
"If they come closer — within four feet — ask whether they need help or how their day is going, according to new guidance confirmed by Bloomberg News," the article detailed.
Chief Stores Officer Adrienne Costanzo told Bloomberg: “Heading into the holiday, we’re making adjustments and implementing new ways to increase connection during the most important time of the year."
