SPOKANE, Wash. - This Veterans Day, we're shining the spotlight on two local programs hoping to fill the gaps for local veterans and build community.

Vets on the Farm is an entirely organic farm part run by the Spokane Conservation District, and is based at the Scale House Market on East 8th Avenue.

" Vets on the Farm is designed for Veterans seeking a new mission and a way to transition back into civilian life through careers in agriculture, farming, ranching, or other conservation-based industries," according to the organization's website.

Farm Manager Grant Weber said that farming is becoming an increasingly popular outlet for veterans as a form of creating rather than destroying.
