WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - A U.S. Postal worker has died in Wayne County, officials confirm.

The man was found at work in a machine used to process mail.

Police say 36-year-old Nicholas John Acker’s fiancée called authorities after he failed to return home from work.

Firefighters went to the Allen Park postal facility Saturday and found the maintenance worker in the machine.

First responders believe he was there for six to eight hours, and that his death was an accident.

Acker was engaged to be married and a nine-year Air Force veteran.

Acker’s fiancée, Stephanie Jaszcz, told NBC affiliate WDIV that Acker had previously expressed concerns about the facility.
