MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) - The westbound lanes of Interstate 24 are blocked on Tuesday afternoon, November 11 due to a crash on the bridge.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, because the crash cleanup is expected to take so long, they activated emergency detour Route A for all westbound traffic.

They say drivers will see flashing lights and be directed to exit I-24 westbound at Exit 16, following detour A signs along U.S. 62 and the I-24 Downtown Business Loop/U.S. 60 and traveling toward the McCracken-Ballard County line.

Vehicles will be able to cross into Illinois at the U.S. 51 Cairo Bridge between Wickliffe, Ky. and Cairo, Ill.

Deputies were on the scene as of 3:30 p.m.
