DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Danville has hired two new Assistant City Managers to help take on the extra projects and responsibilities that come with the city’s growth.
Following a nationwide search, City Manager Ken Larking selected Michael Adkins and Briana Evans to become the new Assistant City Managers.
In 2021, a study showed a need for an assistant city manager. However, due to the COVID pandemic, Larking decided to hold off.
Now, with a $384 million budget and many new projects on the horizon, like Riverfront Park, Larking says new assistants are needed to help manage and oversee city spending.
“Now that we’re through the pandemic and we’re realizing a lot of new revenue based on investments that have occurred within our city, especially the casino, we’ve got lots of projects,” said
