Maumelle police on Monday arrested a boy at Maumelle Library who had a stun gun which was initially mistaken for a firearm, a police news release states.
Officers responded to the library at 10 Lake Pointe Drive after getting a call around 3:22 p.m. about a person possibly armed with a handgun, the release states.
Further investigation determined the boy, who wasn't identified in the release, had a stun gun carried in his waistband, creating the appearance of him having a firearm, the release states. The release also doesn't list his age.
Police took him into custody, but the department doesn't intend to release any further information because he is a minor, the release states.
Arkansas Code 5-73-133 prohibits minors from purchasing or possessing stun guns. The Central Arkansas Library
