JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Multiple fire departments have contained a wildfire that burned at least 56 acres in Jasper County on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire started around 3 p.m. near County Road 826, according to Jasper County Constable Chad Ainsworth. Crews from the Buna Volunteer Fire Department, Jasper Emergency Services District #1, and the Texas A&M Forest Service are responding to the scene.

Ainsworth said the Texas A&M Forest Service ran a bulldozer around a deer camp to help prevent the spread.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the blaze.
