Through multiple waste diversion initiatives that have been implemented over the past decade, the City of Cornwall has added an estimated 19 years of useful life to its existing landfill site as of November.

Cornwall council heard this good news on Monday and praised the work of city staff members, residents, and businesses who made this extension possible. When a previous iteration of council adopted the city’s solid waste management master plan (SWMMP) back in 2012, it was expected the landfill site at 2590 Cornwall Centre Rd. could close by 2028.
