The North Carolina Court of Appeals has reversed the trial court's order in the case of the Mountain Retreat Association lodge.

Appeals court judges agreed with the MRA that all requirements were met and due process rights were not violated.

The North Carolina Court of Appeals has reversed a trial court’s order in the case of the Mountain Retreat Association lodge, allowing the MRA to build its proposed lodge in Montreat after a yearslong legal battle.

The saga began in 2018 when the MRA began a study to look at its then-13 lodges, according to its website. In 2019, the MRA contracted architects to work on a new concept on the site of three existing lodges: Galax House, Chestnut Lodge and Lord Apartments.
