FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial honored those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces with ceremonies over the weekend and on Veterans Day.
The memorial added the name of Kentucky-born Vietnam veteran Warrant Officer Conrad Jack Wheeler, who had been missing. Crews also replaced several of the concrete piers that support the granite memorial plaza overlooking the State Capitol.
A service was held Saturday, followed by an observance Monday. Among those attending was Kentucky veteran Jerry Ceecil, who shared what the day means to him.
“I’ve got two people on this memorial who were in my platoon who were killed, so that means a lot to me,” Cecil said. “Second of all, this is the day I was wounded in Vietnam on Veterans Day, November 11, 1967, so this is
