SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A nine-month investigation into the South Bend Community School Corporation has cost the district around $20,000, with one investigator working an average of 18.5 hours per week.
The school board voted to hire two private investigators in January to examine problems within the district. Tim Corbett has been paid $19,852 for about 220 hours of work through May, while Joe Speybroeck has not yet submitted an invoice.
The WNDU 16 News Now I-Team asked to speak to the two investigators on camera, but they declined. So, last week, Caroline Klapp sat down with Board Attorney Peter Agostino to get some context on what exactly the private investigators are working on.
