For 94-year-old Molly Saggers the towering tree outside her home is not just part of her garden but a part of her family history.
Almost four generations of her family have climbed on it, jumped from its branches and even built a tree house that is still there today.
But the future of the tree, located in the Bunbury suburb of Glen Iris, 170 kilometres south of Perth, is at risk.
Main Roads WA is planning to remove the tree to allow for a new intersection and road connection aimed at improving safety and easing congestion.
Ms Saggers said her mum planted the tree more than 120 years ago and had fond memories of it both as a child and today.
"We'd be coming home from the pictures at night and would drive like the devil because we were scared in the dark of the trees," Ms Saggers laughe
