CLEMSON — Clemson football announced former linebacker Marlon "Bubba" Brown died at age 67 after a long illness.

Brown played with the Tigers from 1976-79, and he still holds the career record in tackles with 515. He also generated 17 tackles for loss, nine pass breakups, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four interceptions in his Clemson career.

He earned first-team All-ACC honors as a junior in 1978 when he helped Clemson to an 11-1 record and ACC championship and received first-team all-conference honors again in his senior season and Danny Ford’s first year as coach. Brown was inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 1999.
