AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Public Library, in partnership with Amarillo’s Coming Home program, is collecting winter items for those in need.

In October, it collected over 2,000 new pairs of socks, well surpassing its goal of 1,500.

Now, the library is accepting donations for winter gloves and hygiene products at all five locations throughout November.

The goal is to collect 1,200 winter gloves and over 8,000 hygiene products.

“People who have gloves to keep their hands warm and who are able to practice good oral hygiene are less likely to have health emergencies. So it saves the community money, but most of all it’s just caring for our neighbors, and that’s the kind of community that Amarillo is,” said Stacy Clopton, Amarillo Public Library PR and programming coordinator.
