SPRINGFIELD, Neb. —

Every year, the city of Springfield honors the bravery and sacrifices of our nation's veterans through an annual procession led by students. Following the procession is a Veterans Day program that welcomes families, staff, students and veterans.

Nearly 50 trucks met in the Wild Willy's parking lot early Tuesday morning to get the procession festivities rolling, placing American flags on their vehicles. The tradition was started six years ago by former Platteview students. Since then, students have carried on the legacy.
