As a decorated fighter pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force and later a Member of Parliament, Stephen Fuhr has proven he isn’t afraid to take on tough challenges.

Fuhr, who served 20 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and retired with the rank of Major, knows he’ll be a busy man in the years ahead.

Not only will he continue his work as MP for Kelowna, but he’ll also oversee tens of billions of dollars in federal taxpayer spending as the newly appointed Secretary of State for Defence Procurement.

During last week’s federal budget, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the largest investment in Canada’s military in generations. The Liberal government committed to spending an additional $82 billion over five years, on top of the existing annual defence budget, Fuhr said.
