Anchorage Animal Care and Control is asking the community for help as it works to support pets and their owners.
The shelter is currently low on dry cat food and is requesting donations to stock its pet food bank. This resource helps pet owners who may be struggling, especially during the winter months when heating bills rise and trips to the store can be difficult.
James Genne-Philips of Anchorage Animal Care and Control says,
"It's just harder for people to get food and we don't want to make them choose between having their pet or, you know, feeding themselves."
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, and staff ask that all food be placed in sealed bags.
This effort ensures that both pets and their families can stay healthy and cared for throughout the season.
