Major renovations will take place at Joplin’s seven older elementary schools over the next few years as the district works to make sure all students have access to the same level of facilities available at its newer elementary schools.

The Joplin Board of Education on Oct. 28 accepted the district’s Long Range Facility Planning Committee report recommending phased-in improvements. That committee is made up of community members, parents, city leaders, business owners and Joplin School District staff who volunteered to evaluate district properties in order to create a long-range plan to guide capital projects for the next five to 15 years. ×
