SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Despite a bill in the Senate to end the government shutdown, many travelers remain caught in the ongoing chaos at airports due to imposed air traffic restrictions.

Alex Noyes wanted to get away from stick season and took a fishing trip in the Caribbean nation of Belize. But she says getting home has been agony.

“It was a great first couple of days of vacation, but getting home has been hell and back. I’m finally home back in Vermont, and I’ve never been happier to see snow,” Noyes said.

A mechanical issue left her sitting on the tarmac for seven hours in Belize. She was then rerouted to Miami, where they waited even longer for immigration services.
