BANGOR, Maine (WABI) -In Bangor, veterans were honored Tuesday at the Cole Land Transportation Museum.

They held their annual Veterans Day Service to celebrate all that veterans have contributed and sacrificed.

The Bangor Band was there along with the winners of the museum’s annual essay contest.

The theme this year was “What Freedom Means to Me.”

“This is our favorite tradition and it’s something that’s very closely with our veteran interview program. Students, when they come, grades 6 through 12, are invited to take part in our interview program when they come here on a school visit. As part of that interview, they’re invited to write an essay, if they choose. The teachers then submit them to us, and we pick the top four in the state, and those winners are here with us today, along w
