CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary next year — and Virginia is helping lead the way with a new initiative highlighting the commonwealth’s deep historical roots.

The Virginia 250 Passport, launched by some of the state’s top historic sites — including Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg and Mount Vernon — invites travelers to explore more than 70 historic locations across Virginia.
