OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - South Omaha is a very diverse community, and on Veterans Day, they celebrate diversity by honoring all who served in the U.S. military.
Leadership at South Omaha’s G.I. Forum said the South Omaha Veterans and Community Club was started for Hispanics who went to war for this country and were not appreciated when they came back home. So, they started their own club.
Everyone is standing under one flag.
Current commander of South Omaha’s G.I. Forum, Philip Lordemann, leads a ceremony to honor our veterans. The organization is inclusive. The only colors here are red, white, and blue. And all have stories to tell about their experiences.
