‘Just one act’: Veterans Day in West Springfield urges all to serve

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Former Army Maj. Mustafa Thompson, speaker for this year’s Veterans Day observance on the Town Common , challenged his audience Tuesday to commit to one act of service.

“Just one act,” Thompson said. “Call a veteran on the telephone. Say, ‘Hi.’ Shake a hand. Take someone out to coffee. Take them to an appointment. Go to the grocery store for them.”
