KARLSTAD, Minn. — Though the circumstances of his death leave many questions unanswered, friends of Kevin “Beef” Sele say he was an incredible man.

Among them is Darrin Foss, who knew Sele since they were young men in the early 1990s.

The two had a lot in common and shared many good memories over the years. They played in a pool league and gathered around bonfires “shooting the breeze,” according to Lynette Foss, Darrin Foss’ wife. They also rode four-wheelers and side-by-sides, which is how they spent the Fourth of July this year.

“He had just bought a Polaris Ranger, and he was excited about going on rides with us,” Darrin Foss said.

Sele died on Nov. 1, after a 911 call was made at approximately 1 a.m. from his home, reporting an intruder who allegedly attacked him and took his gun,
