The CHSAA football playoffs have turned into the six degrees of separation for the BoCoPreps area.

Well, seven. But who’s counting?

It starts with Broomfield, the 4A defending champs. Fittingly, its title defense begins in the postseason with … its defense.

Over the final five games of the regular season, the Eagles allowed just 8 1/2 points per game. Senior Alexander Darby is currently tied for 10th in 4A with seven sacks. Gavyn Bienzle is just behind with 6 1/2.

Broomfield (8-2) is hoping to recapture the magic of last season, which concluded in the 4A title game with a comeback win over Montrose. The Red Hawks host Frederick and the speedy, shifty Sonny Delpizzo on Saturday.
