NEZ PERCE COUNTY, Idaho – The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office reported two car crashes on top of Lewiston Hill, both caused by a combination of dense fog and high-speed driving.
The first crash happened around 9:42 a.m. on November 11 near mile marker 317. Nez Perce County deputies and State Troopers were working on a vehicle fire when the crash happened nearby.
Moments after the first crash, another crash happened at the same spot, according to the sheriff’s office.
The cause of both crashes was “speed too fast for conditions.” The dense fog reduced visibility and the drivers did not slow down, which resulted in the crashes, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office issued a reminder that when fog reduces visibility, drivers should slow down and turn on their headlight
