KOUNTZE, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal crash that happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and State Highway 327 in Hardin County.

According to DPS, the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. when a U.S. Postal Service mail truck was traveling west on Highway 327 and reportedly disregarded a stop sign at the Highway 69 intersection. The mail truck pulled into the path of a 2003 Ford F-350 towing a lowboy trailer traveling north, and the vehicles collided.

The driver of the mail truck was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where they were pronounced dead. Their name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
