It was history’s greatest unplanned recording session. In 1956 Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins just happened to all be at Sun Studios at the same time and they decided to lay down a few tracks. This would already have been a historic trio, but when Johnny Cash wandered in and joined the jam it truly became the stuff of legend. It wasn’t until 1981 that the recordings were discovered and started being released. The stage play tells the story of four giants coming together in one of the world’s most storied recording studios, and of course, there’s the tunes, making this musical almost a concert. Goes through Dec 14.
