OMAHA, Neb. —
Veterans Day is not just a day of remembrance or honor, but also a day of thanks.
"Thank you to our veterans, thanks to those who continue to serve," said Rep. Don Bacon.
"They believe that this country and all of us are worth it, so I say thank you," Mayor John Ewing Jr. said.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you to every veteran for all of your extraordinary sacrifice and service," Gov. Jim Pillen said.
Leaders from across Nebraska spoke at Memorial Park Tuesday morning. They highlighted the importance of service to the United States.
"It is indeed a sacred acknowledgement of the ultimate sacrifice that we gather. We stand here today to mark some of the highest, most noble characteristics a person can have," Ewing said.
