FITCHBURG, Mass. —
A federal judge in Maine has ordered the release of Juliana Milena Ojeda-Montoya, who was taken into custody by immigration authorities in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, last week , citing a violation of her rights.
Ojeda-Montoya was in a car with her husband, Carlos Zapata, and their one-year-old daughter last Thursday when they were pulled over by ICE officers.
Bystanders filmed the ensuing altercation, where the family was physically pulled apart by officers.
Zapata claimed ICE officers used a stun glove on him that triggered a seizure. The Department of Homeland Security denies the claim.
The incident sparked outrage among the community and made national headlines.
