BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - As the government shutdown prolongs into Veterans Day for the first time, Local Veterans Organizations hosted a holiday program at the North Dakota Heritage Center.

A large crowd came to honor those who served at Bismarck’s Veterans Day program at the Heritage Center in Bismarck.

Because of the government shutdown, none of the state’s congressional members attended in person. However, Representative Julie Fedorchak and Senator Kevin Cramer made video appearances.

“It is without a question the joy of my life, as someone who did not serve in the military, to serve the military,” said Cramer in a recorded video.

This year, the program added a performance from the Minot Heritage singers for the first time.
