SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Senate has passed a short-term bill to keep the government running—and South Dakota stands to benefit.

For six weeks, millions of federal workers patiently waited.

“I’m grateful that the end is in sight. But I would encourage every member of this body, Democrat or Republican, pro-bill or anti-bill. To not stand in the way of being able to deliver the coming relief quickly,” Sen. John Thune (R), South Dakota, said.

Eight Senate Democrats, none of whom face the backlash or re-election next year, gave in to stop the bleeding and voted to fund the government through next January.
