PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) - Celebrating veterans day through service to others: that’s the mission of one Papillion restaurant owner.
She made 400 free meals for veterans and families struggling during the government shutdown.
Michelle Alfaro, owner of ‘Sauced by Alfaro,’ says today is about serving those who have served us.
Families picking up meals today say her restaurant’s efforts are a ‘sigh of relief’ during these uncertain times.
“It’s extra important because people who have served this country for us to be able to do and say what we do already -- what a great way to honor them for their sacrifice is to be able to sacrifice our food and energy to bless them the way that they’ve blessed us,” said Michelle.
She invited people to get food today, through a Facebook post, from 11 a.m.
