MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Hundreds gathered Monday at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville to honor those who served, with veterans sharing stories of both remarkable missions and harrowing survival.

The ceremony featured the Georgia Military College Corps of Cadets presenting the colors, followed by veterans singing the national anthem and "God Bless America." The program concluded with a veterans platoon, where service members wheeled or walked to the front of the room to applause.

Among them was Wayman McEachin, who served 10 years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as an administrative specialist coordinating bombing and refueling missions.
