Strong westerly winds gusting up to 40 mph will continue blowing across New Jersey through Tuesday evening, with scattered snow showers possible across northern areas this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says a large low pressure system to the north and high pressure to the south will keep winds strong through Tuesday night, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph are expected.
In areas along the coast, peak gusts could reach 40 mph, the weather service said.
Scattered snow showers may produce light accumulations on grassy surfaces and reduced visibility across areas near and north of Interstate 78 through the late afternoon.
Earlier today, some parts of New Jersey got their first coating of snow so far this season, with one tenth of an inch reported in areas of Morris and Sussex counties
