As fears around the future of the Wellington Cowboys grow, the Peter McDonald Premiership chairman has urged the club to reach out to the competition's governing body.

This masthead reported on the uncertainty around the Cowboys on Tuesday, November 11 and the club's need to appoint a third president in the space of roughly six months.

That evening, current Wellington vice president Tony Wilson posted a lengthy statement on the club's Facebook page.

He called on "our men and women of all ages to rally together" and for players considering a move away to stay and help ensure the long-term viability of the club.
