Many of the results of Nov. 4 special Chandler-area elections were apparent within hours after polls closed.
That wasn’t the case for one of the Chandler Unified School District questions on the ballot this year, as the seven-year override spending authority seemed well on its way to passing, though its $271.5 million bond was passing by only slightly more than 400 votes as of about 48 hours after polls closed.
By Tuesday, Nov. 11, there was a gap of about 1,450 votes, with the 28,847 in favor of the bond and in the lead.
The vote comes only a year after CUSD’s $487 million bond failed by a moderate margin — its first bond failure in decades — with voter turnout higher due to the presidential and other elections.
This year, the city of Chandler had four bond questions — totaling $475 m
