DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta school district filed suit, asking for billions of dollars after it said social media addiction is plaguing its students.
According to court documents, the DeKalb County School District reported its students are dealing with mental health impacts, and the district wants social media companies to pay up. It said "DeKalb has incurred at least $4,322,496 in past expenditures for programs necessitated" to fix issues caused by social media in schools.
"This isn’t a problem that’s going to go away overnight," said Davis Vaughn, with Beasley Allen Law Firm.
