LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - School bands and cheerleaders helped mark Veterans Day during the annual parade sponsored by American Legion Post 59 on Nov. 11.

The parade started at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and ended at San Augustin Plaza where a flag ceremony was performed to mark the occasion.

Jose Soto, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, said seeing the community turnout was meaningful.

“Seeing all these people being here lined up along the parade and it was nice to see people just smiling. It’s a good thing for us,” Soto said.

The festivities were held to thank everyone who has served in the U.S. military, especially those living in Webb County and Laredo.
