MARTIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Residents in Martin County woke up to snow today.

This morning, it snowed in the City of Williamston, which may indicate a broken record for the earliest snowfall in the state. However, snowfall records can be difficult to prove.

The earliest measurable snowfall was on November 24th, 1935, according to climate records.

Total snowfall ranges anywhere from a light dusting to two inches, depending on where you are located.

WITN is waiting to hear back from the National Weather Service to verify whether the record was broken.
