OLYPHANT, Pa. — It's a story of love and service to one's country.

Dozens of veterans and community members are coming together on Veterans Day at American Legion Post 327 in Olyphant to honor Private First Class Francis Hodorowski & his wife, Florence.

Francis graduated from Scranton Central High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 11th Infantry, traveling all across the world. "I must have been 20 years old." "I was all over Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia during the war."

Florence's service started when she was 16, making mortar shells for the war effort.

She then met her first husband, Sergeant Edward Bylotas, a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served in ww2, Korea, and survived the Pearl Harbor attacks.
