PHOENIX (AZFamily) — There is a saying in the Valley that once we get past Halloween, it starts to get cool and comfortable. While that might be true for the evenings, it certainly has not been true for the afternoons this year.

According to data from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet at Iowa State University, Arizona is off to the hottest start to November on record. Notice that both California and Utah are off to the third-hottest starts in their respective histories. These records go back to 1893.

Since Arizona is ranked No. 1, you would also expect Phoenix to be ranked near the top for early November heat. Indeed, Phoenix is ranked No. 4 with an average temperature of 75.1 degrees.
