Joel Embiid landed on the injury report with a new complaint Tuesday, soreness in his right knee.
That’s not the knee in which the 76ers center tore his meniscus in early 2024 and had cleanup surgery on in the spring. Instead, it’s a new issue that kept him out of Tuesday’s visit from the Boston Celtics.
Embiid, per coach Nick Nurse, reported soreness in his knee Tuesday morning. The team had imaging done and is consulting with doctors.
Nurse gave no indication of what a timeline might be.
Embiid didn’t play Sunday night against Detroit, a scheduled absence in the second half of a back-to-back as part of managing the load on his left knee. Embiid has played in six of the 76ers’ 10 games, averaging 23.3 minutes 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He had been playing on a minutes
