The Front Royal Town Council may consider earmarking money to address derelict buildings and hold owners accountable.

Mayor Lori A. Cockrell, Vice Mayor Amber F. Veitenthal and council members Melissa A. DeDomenico-Payne, Joshua L. Ingram, H. Bruce Rappaport, Glenn E. Wood and R. Wayne Sealock took up a request Monday night to move funds once set aside for a road project to the Department of Planning and Zoning.

The Department of Planning and Zoning enforces the property maintenance and nuisance code sections to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare, according to town information. Most cases result in compliance by staff working with the property owners. Other cases may require additional time and funding to resolve the violation.
