BOSSIER CITY, La. — A local nonprofit is ensuring no veteran goes hungry this Thanksgiving.
Veterans for Veterans hosted its annual Veterans Thanksgiving Turkey Give-Away at the War Veterans Home on Arthur Ray Teague Parkway, providing 200 turkeys to active-duty service members in honor of Veterans Day.
Instead of handing out frozen birds, organizers distributed gift cards redeemable for turkeys at Super One Foods or Brookshire’s, giving recipients flexibility and choice.
“We only had 200 cards to give away to our Barksdale Airmen and people that are in need,” said veteran Linda Resendez. “The way you would do this would be veteransforveterans.com . Please donate. This helps our veterans and our freedom isn’t free.”
Donations are still being accepted at veteransforveterans.com
